About Me
Welcome to Bobby "The Ghost" Winther's About Me page.
I started jiu jitsu in 2010 at 14 years old. The first time i trained, and learned my first submission, I was immediately drawn into the fighting world. I've always had interest in MMA, but never followed through with it because of work.
Once covid hit, I had a lot more time on my hands to give to myself and trainers, and eventually went through with it. Committed to MMA at 24 years old, I moved to San Diego to train full time, and haven't looked back since.
Jumping into fighting with much training and twists of my own, I have developed a fighting style that is aggressive, and exhausting to deal with. My persistence and patience is what sets me apart from any others. I continue to develop my approach, tactics, and skills every day.
After years of hard work paying off, winning the Welterweight Amateur California State Title, and being signed to a multi-fight contract with Cage Warriors, I realized some things I worked so hard to get too were happening before my eyes. I knew I was on the right path. Eye ahead to the UFC!
Some people ask about my training regime, which is a loaded question to say the least. So to keep it brief, I am training year round of course. In preparation for a fight, I start training camp about 8 weeks out from a fight, which entails extra work, certain methods and drills to go through, and more. I train about 5-6 hours/day, almost every day.
I keep my nutrition on point, sleep well, strength and conditioning is being met to standards. I put hours on top of hours on to the train mat and roll, test my abilities, and learn along the way.
In my journey so far in MMA, one of the hardest challenges I faced was staying active when fights would fall through, and I didn't get a chance to show myself and test my capabilities on that next guy in line. But in MMA, there's a lot out of my control, so it's important to not let these things bother me. All I do is train, and be ready to fight when called upon for an opportunity.
No one really steered me, or my attention into the fighting world. Fighting is something i do for myself. No one ever asked me to fight, or join a club, or anything along those lines, which tactually took pressure off me. Deep down, the inspiration was from within, because I truly believe I can become a world champion in the UFC. So yeah, the destination is the UFC, and the journey is something I can experience, remember and live with forever.
As far as idols, role models, and inspirations go, the list is long. I believe everyone has potential to offer some sort of advice, whether big or small. If that someone can add value to my life in any way, shape, or form, unconditionally, they are a role model in my book.
A couple sayings I like to look back on, and just take a second to really think about, and consider through my daily life are:
"Nobody cares, work harder" and "Always the hammer, never the nail"
Outside of my fighting world, I enjoy skiing, eating food with my wife, spending time with my pets, and baking.
I always make sure i give time and respect to my family and friends, while making sure I am disciplined in my training schedule.
To all my fans and support out there, I am going to be active on my socials, so feel free to reach out, give me a follow, and connect! I appreciate the love & support.
For people to be supporting me with something I love doing, I couldn't ask for much more than that!
Thank you all! It will be a fun ride!🇺🇸
